Guiyang bureau branch protects Hongfeng Lake

On Aug 26, a reporter learned from the Qingzhen branch of the Guiyang ecology and environment bureau that the branch has been carrying out a special action for the protection of the Hongfeng Lake water source area since the beginning of this year.

The branch has dispatched staff members to regularly inspect the reservoir's surroundings for discharge outlets and monitor the operation and maintenance of sewage facilities within the protected area. This year, the branch has conducted nearly 60 inspections.

So far this year, the branch has addressed 15 ecological issues in the Hongfeng Lake drinking water source protection area, while closing five polluting enterprises and four catering and entertainment centers. It has also tackled agricultural non-point source pollution caused by large amounts of compost near the cattle sheds in Ludong village, which is within the protection area.

The branch has also installed 20 signboards in the primary water source protection area and cleaned up 200 square meters of construction and household waste in Bianshan village, which lies within the secondary protection area.

In addition, the branch has been actively promoting the importance of protecting water sources as well as related laws and regulations to the public in an effort to raise environmental awareness.
