On Aug 13, Guiyang city held a themed public event at the Guiyang Ecological Science Museum in anticipation of China's National Ecology Day, which falls on Aug 15.
The event featured interactive activities themed around waste sorting, energy conservation, and emission reduction, aiming to promote green and low-carbon ideas to the residents and educate them on low-carbon living.

18 trained youth volunteers were appointed as ecology guides for the event. These volunteers helped spread environmental protection stories and concepts among primary and secondary school students, encouraging their peers to focus on ecological preservation.
"Through this learning experience, I got to know more rare species of plants and animals. I also learned to opt for walking, cycling, or taking public transport more often to reduce vehicle emissions and to use energy-efficient appliances to lower my carbon footprint," said Xiang Nan, one of the appointed volunteer guides.
