In recent years, the city of Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – has made significant strides in promoting its ecological civilization and accelerating its green and low-carbon development.

In 2023, Guiyang became the first city in Guizhou to establish a green economy development indicator system.

The metropolis added 14 national-level green factories, two national-level green industrial parks and one national-level green supply chain management enterprise over the course of the year. Over 1,500 new charging and battery-swapping facilities were also constructed, and all public buses now run on new or clean energy.

During the height of summer, residents can these days stroll through Guanshanhu Park and enjoy the shade of lush trees and the refreshing breeze.

Guiyang has also vigorously promoted its park construction in recent years, aiming to ensure that residents can see a park within 500 meters on foot in its urban area. Each park serves as a miniature ecological world with special water bodies, wetlands, hills, rivers and diverse flora and fauna. To date, the city has built 1,025 parks of various types.

In 2023, Guiyang was recognized as a National Ecological Civilization Demonstration Zone.

Indeed, the Controlling Nanming River Project of Guiyang was selected as one of the outstanding projects in the Ministry of Ecology and Environment's second batch of beautiful rivers and lakes.

The Aha Lake National Wetland Park in Guiyang was also included in the first batch of National Forestry and Grassland Science Popularization Bases.
