Guiyang city's water sources get top marks in review

To promote pollution prevention and the management of the drinking water sources supplying Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – the Guiyang Institute of Ecology and Environmental Science recently reviewed the status of their environmental protection.

The assessment collected information on the water withdrawal capacity, water quality compliance, environmental management and other supporting materials. These came from over 50 documents about 61 water sources in urban centers, county towns and rural areas with populations exceeding 1,000 people.

Utilizing methods such as on-site inspections and aerial drones, the institute verified the settings of water source protection area monitors, protective measures, environmental improvements, monitoring capacity, risk prevention and emergency response capabilities.

The assessment concluded that the overall environmental protection status of all 61 centralized water sources in Guiyang was excellent.
