The Guiyang Municipal People's Government Information Office held a press conference to release the "2023 Ecological Environment Status Bulletin of Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area" on June 4. The bulletin revealed that in 2023, the overall quality of the ecological environment in Guiyang and Gui'an was good.

Both Guiyang and Gui'an enjoyed 363 days of good air quality, ranking 10th among 168 key cities nationwide and fourth among provincial capital cities. The term "good ambient air quality" refers to an air pollution index that is greater than 50 and less than or equal to 100, according to national standards.

The soil environment quality in Guiyang and Gui'an remained generally stable. Efforts in rural environmental remediation included the treatment of domestic sewage in 91 administrative villages and the treatment of 12 rural black and odorous water bodies, achieving a rural domestic sewage treatment rate of 60 percent, the highest in the province.

Guiyang made progress on its "Zero-waste City" initiative in 45 construction indicators. By the end of 2023, 352 "zero-waste entities", including "zero-waste schools" and "zero-waste factories", had been established.

Last year, Guiyang also continued to strengthen ecological supervision of nature reserves, scenic areas, geological parks, wetland parks, and forest parks, enhancing routine environmental inspections and addressing identified issues.
