Guiyang's ambient air quality ranks 4th among provincial capitals

On Feb 5, the Guiyang bureau of ecology and environment held a "Briefing on the Prevention and Control of Air Pollution in 2024" to inform the media about the work done in air protection in 2023.

It is reported that in 2023, the proportion of days with good ambient air quality in Guiyang reached 99.5 percent. Additionally, the air quality ranked 10th among 168 key cities in China and 4th among the provincial capital cities in the country.

Good ambient air quality refers to the national secondary standard of ambient air quality. When the air pollution index is greater than 50 and less than or equal to 100, the air quality is good.

In the last year, Guiyang has implemented measures to control volatile organic compounds, construction dust pollution, open fires, and food and beverage smoke pollution. During the year, the city completed the in-depth treatment of volatile organic compounds in two enterprises and 11 gas stations. It also investigated and remediated 1,073 trucks emitting black smoke, as well as remediated more than 2,500 open burning and dust pollution cases.

This year, the bureau will continue to vigorously implement actions to reduce air pollution, fine particulate matter, and ozone gases.
