Guiyang focuses on nuclear, radiation safety

The 2023 Southwest Region Nuclear and Radiation Safety Supervision Symposium was held in Qujing, Southwest China's Yunnan province, on Nov 21.

Chen Ming, deputy director of the Guiyang ecology and environment bureau in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, was invited to speak about nuclear and radiation work in Guiyang.

The symposium reported on recent developments in nuclear and radiation supervision in the southwest region, heard presentations on nuclear and radiation work in the ecology and environment departments of the five southwestern provinces and five key cities, and conducted specialized training on "Radiation Protection and Safety Requirements for Nuclear Medicine."

In recent years, the Guiyang ecology and environment bureau has been continuously strengthening law enforcement and control over nuclear and radiation units, ensuring environmental safety within Guiyang.

In their daily supervision efforts, the bureau has collaborated with public security, health, and other departments to enhance law enforcement supervision, achieving full coverage of radiation safety risk management and ensuring radiation environmental safety.

Over the past two years, the bureau has inspected a total of 581 nuclear and radiation units and handled 28 cases of violations in accordance with the law.

In recent years, there have been no safety hazards related to radiation in the city.
