The Guiyang bureau of ecology and environment represented Guiyang – capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province – at the Local Government (online) Forum, held in the run-up to the 24th Tripartite Environment Ministers Meeting, or TEMM24, on Oct 26.
The 24th Tripartite Environment Ministers Meeting between Japan, Korea, and China was held on Nov 3-4 in Nagoya city in Japan.
During the online forum, all delegates shared and delivered strong presentations on the construction of zero-waste cities.
Chen Ming, deputy director of the Guiyang bureau of ecology and environment, shared the practices and achievements of Guiyang in the construction of a zero-waste city during the event.
He elaborated on Guiyang's approach from four aspects – including promoting recycling in a coordinated manner, strengthening waste's safe end disposal and promoting a zero-waste city.
Additionally, Chen engaged in in-depth exchange of experiences with representatives from Japan and South Korea on topics such as the circular economy, plastic pollution control and waste sorting – further enriching Guiyang's experience in building a zero-waste city.
Moving forwards, plans are for Guiyang to take more robust measures in various sectors, including industry, agriculture, construction and daily living. That's to reduce solid waste generation, increase resource utilization and achieve harmless disposals.
