Guiyang joins national eco civilization demonstration areas

The city of Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – was included in the seventh batch of National Ecological Civilization Construction Demonstration Areas on Oct 27.

This is one of the highest honors conferred by the Chinese Ministry of Ecology and Environment, marking a significant achievement in Guiyang's ecological civilization construction.

In recent years, Guiyang is said to have actively promoted its ecological civilization construction and achieved new accomplishments.

The city has introduced a green economy promotions plan – focusing on the development of green production, green consumption, green living and green civilization, among other areas – and promoted the orderly progress of various targets.

In the field of green production, several industries – such as new energy vehicles and electronic information manufacturing – have seen growth in output value and progress has been made in the development of the digital economy.

What is more, a total of 33 data center and computing hub node projects have been implemented.

In addition, in the realm of green consumption, the number of green malls, green restaurants and green tourism hotels has been continuously increasing – in turn stimulating the expanded supply of green products.

In terms of green living, efforts have been made to increase the proportion of green urban transportation.

Guiyang has optimized and adjusted 33 conventional bus routes, introduced 95 customized bus routes, as well as initiated the construction of 661 new public parking and charging facilities.

Regarding green civilization, the city has established green brands such as green families, green schools and green communities.
