Guiyang recently released the "Implementation Plan for Consolidating and Enhancing Construction of National Forest City in Guiyang (2023-25)". The plan aims to further advance urban ecological development, particularly focusing on the construction of ring-city fitness trails to provide residents with more opportunities for green transportation and recreational activities.
The plan specified that Guiyang would leverage its abundant ecological resources in the ring-city forest belt to comprehensively plan and construct ring-city fitness trails.
Guiyang plans to renovate existing scenic trails, fire access routes and forest paths, as well as construct new forest trails, hiking paths, and biking lanes, connecting them to ecological nodes such as city parks, scenic areas, and wetland parks – to create a smooth, convenient, aesthetically pleasing, and seamless greenway network.
After the project is completed, Guiyang will offer an array of services and amenities for residents, including green transportation, recreational activities, travel routes, and wildlife corridors.
According to the plan, Guiyang aims to complete the construction of 177 kilometers of fitness trails this year to meet the demand for outdoor activities among its residents. The city has set the ambitious goal of expanding the total length of the fitness trails to 600 kilometers by 2025.
