The Eco Forum Global Guiyang 2023 closed in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on July 9. This forum attracted more than 3,200 representatives from 42 countries and regions around the world. The participating parties reached 14 consensus in four aspects, while the forum released several research achievements, facilitating collaboration related to green development.
The 14 consensus, which were duly and appropriately established, encompass a wide array of critical and pressing issues, ranging from the prioritization of innovation-driven technological leadership to the formulation of strategies aimed at fostering a comprehensive and all-encompassing green transformation. Indeed, the agreements are multifaceted and multifarious in nature, as they also touch upon the promotion of environmentally-friendly and low-carbon development, as well as the implementation of measures designed to support global sustainable development.
The research achievements released include the "China Climate Change Blue Book (2023)" and the "Consultation Report of the Global Ecological Civilization Think Tank Summit."
During the forum, Guizhou province had the distinguished honor of presenting a total of 220 invaluable investment opportunities in the green industry to a vast array of both domestic and foreign investors. These projects, which are spread across a multitude of sectors including new industrialization, urbanization, modern agriculture, and tourism industrialization.
Among them, two strategic cooperation agreements and 12 industrial investment projects were signed on-site at the forum, with a contract amount of 12.24 billion yuan ($1.7 billion).
In addition, at the forum, the International Union for Conservation of Nature held an awarding ceremony for 13 natural protected areas in China that were included in the IUCN Green List.
