The "International Youth Forum on Green Development – Empowering Youth Action to Promote Low-Carbon Development" was held in Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on July 9.
This is the first sub-forum for youth on this theme set up by Eco Forum Global Guiyang. It is co-sponsored by the All-China Youth Federation and the United Nations Development Programme, and is being co-undertaken by the Secretariat Office of the World Youth Development Forum and the Guizhou Youth Federation.
Nearly 130 experts and young elites – who actively participate in global green development practice and research – from various countries attended.
In a keynote presentation, five domestic and foreign experts discussed topics such as China's carbon market construction, international cooperation on climate action and youth, and youth empowering climate action. They also shared the practical results of young people's participation in ecological civilization construction from various countries.
During the Youth Dialogue session, eight representatives of Chinese and foreign youths discussed the participation of young people in addressing a range of international issues, including climate change and sustainable development.
"I hope more young people will join us to promote the development of agriculture and microbial agriculture, as well as work together to achieve the development of green agriculture with zero emission, zero pollution, zero fertilizers, zero pesticides and zero waste," said Zhang Xiyong, chairman of Guizhou Sanxi Microbial Technology Co.
At the youth forum, Wang Yi, director-general of the Secretariat Office of the World Youth Development Forum, also called on young people to jointly promote low-carbon development.
