Baiyun district in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, strives to develop itself into a national ecological civilization construction demonstration zone by 2025, according to its development plan.
The district will first develop itself into a provincial-level ecological civilization construction demonstration area within the current year.

In recent years, the ecological environment in Baiyun district has been continuously improved. By 2022, the urban domestic sewage treatment rate in Baiyun district reached 98.6 percent, and the water quality compliance rate of centralized drinking water sources remained at 100 percent.
Its forest coverage rate reaches 45.8 percent, and the number of days with excellent and good air quality ratings reached 98.6 percent. Additionally, Yanshanhong town in the district was rated as a provincial-level garden town.
Last year, 1,348 toilets in Baiyun district completed renovations. The proportion of new green buildings reached 100 percent, and drinking water in rural areas has been connected to villages. The treatment rate of domestic sewage has also continued to increase.
The district has developed industries such as new energy intelligent manufacturing and prefabricated buildings, and has accelerated preparations for the establishment of a carbon emissions trading center.
A total of 85 new charging piles were newly added, and the number of new energy vehicles increased by 15 percent. The Shawen Household Garbage Sorting Center was built, and the recycling rate of household waste reached more than 35 percent.
