Guiyang and Guian New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province, have launched a voluntary afforestation campaign, and are encouraging residents to get involved in the activity, local media reported.
The bureau of forestry in Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou province, has said that residents can apply to participate in the activity in various ways, including registering on the national voluntary tree planting website.
This activity is themed under "Jointly build a forest city and share a green home in Guiyang". The campaign aims to promote the national voluntary tree-planting campaign, actively advance the construction of an ecological civilization, and enhance people's awareness of environmental protection and ecological conservation.
So far, the participants are mainly staff members from the Party, government departments, public institutions, armed forces, enterprises, and social organizations at all levels in Guiyang and Guian. Other participants of note include students from colleges and schools as well as local residents.
Authorities said that, in three to five years, Guiyang and Guian will continue to work to promote this voluntary tree-planting activity in order to boost the city's momentum in building an ecological civilization.
