Guiyang, Guian promote ecological development

Over the past year, Guiyang and Guian have focused on increasing the amount of greenery, saving energy, reducing carbon, protecting the environment, and promoting the greening of economic and social development.

The excellent rate of air quality in Guiyang in 2022 reached 100 percent, and 2.18 million mu (145,333 hectares) of forest belt around the city was built, forming a unique green ecological pattern.

According to statistics, in 2022, Guiyang and Guian added 125 hectares of urban green space and 14.39 kilometers of greenways.

While increasing the forest area, Guiyang and Guian have continued to expand the scale of the green economy.

This year, the arbor forest area in Guiyang and Guian will reach 25.23 million cubic meters, ensuring that the forest coverage rate is stable at more than 55 percent.

Over the past year, Guiyang and Guian have accelerated the research and development, promotion and application of advanced technologies for energy conservation and carbon reduction. In June last year, the world's first methanol hybrid car, Geely's fourth-generation electric and alcohol hybrid car, was launched in Guiyang, making Guiyang one of the most successful and largest cities when it comes to the promotion of methanol fuel and methanol vehicles in the country.

By 2025, the proportion of new and clean energy buses in the two regions is expected to reach 100 percent.

Ecological restoration is the top priority of environmental protection. In 2022, the treatment of domestic sewage in 134 administrative villages in Guiyang and Guian was completed, improving the rural living environment.
