Guiyang launched efforts to become a "city with thousands of parks" in 2015, striving to build an urban park system.
During the 13th Five-Year Plan period from 2016 to 2020, Guiyang built 660 forest parks, wetland parks, mountain parks, urban parks, community parks and other parks, bringing the total number of parks in the city to 1,025.
This has not only laid a solid foundation for Guiyang to create a livable urban environment, but has also greatly expanded the space available to residents for recreational purposes.
In the former Shili River Beach, production and domestic sewage were directly discharged into the river, resulting in long-term pollution of the river environment.
In recent years, Guiyang has started reconstructing Shili River Beach. Some of the local villagers were relocated, the river silt was cleaned, and the sewage was directly discharged. At the same time, in order to protect the original appearance of the river beach, the wetland was restored by planting 2,300 mu (153 hectares) of flowers and trees.
In the future, Guiyang will continue striving to become a "city with thousands of parks" and inject more green energy to become a strong provincial capital.
