Guiyang bureau, county protect ecology

In recent years, Xifeng county in Guiyang has attached great importance to comprehensive environmental governance.

Recently, staff members of the Xifeng sub-bureau of the Guiyang bureau of ecology and environment visited Guiyang Kaiyang Phosphorus Group Fertilizer Co to inspect the tail gas treatment of the chimney of its 800,000-metric-ton sulfuric acid plant. The monitoring system showed that the emission value of sulfur dioxide is 167 milligrams per cubic meter, much better than the national standard of 400 mg per cu m.

Afterwards, they visited Guizhou Taihe Pharmaceutical Co's Xifeng Pharmaceutical Factory for inspection.

It is reported that in 2016, the pharmaceutical factory made the switch from coal to gas one year ahead of schedule, reducing manpower by 70 percent and emissions of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and other harmful chemicals by more than 90 percent.

In addition, in recent years, the county has invested nearly 200 million yuan ($27.65 million) to change the slag discharge method of phosphogypsum and the anti-seepage treatment of the slag yard of Guiyang Kaiyang Phosphorus Group Fertilizer Co, effectively improving the water quality of the No 34 spring drainage point of the Wujiang River.

More than 82 million yuan was invested to demolish 413 cages in the Wujiang River, effectively protecting the water quality in the lower reaches of the river and its reservoir area.

The city also focused on comprehensively utilizing phosphogypsum, and set up more than 10 enterprises including Honghai Building Materials Co and Guiyang Kaiyang Phosphorus Group Phosphogypsum Co.
