Ecological civilization construction in Guiyang achieves results

As leaders in Guizhou province's economic and social development, Guiyang and Guian New Area have always focused on green development and have written a new chapter in the construction of local ecological civilization.

Building an ecological barrier

In recent years, Guiyang and Guian have scientifically promoted land greening, expanded the space for forest land, and made efforts to increase the amount and improve the quality of forest and grass resources.

The two regions have promoted the construction of forest systems such as forest towns, forest villages, and forest families and ensured that the forest coverage rate increases by more than 1 percentage point every year.

Statistics show that in the past five years, Guiyang and Guian have coordinated the integrated protection and restoration of mountains, rivers, forests, fields, lakes and grasslands, completed 1.74 million mu (116,000 hectares) of forest and 12,000 mu of mountain treatment, and increased the forest coverage rate to 55 percent.

Green economic development

Relying on its abundant forest resources, Guiyang has developed an under-forest economy.

According to market demand, the Guiyang National Agricultural Science and Technology Park has closely cooperated with the Guizhou Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Guizhou Agricultural College, Guizhou University and other units to create a breeding base, driving surrounding farmers to plant and cultivate flowers and develop the flower industry.

The science and technology park has formed six leading industries: characteristic vegetables, fine fruits, flower seedlings, characteristic breeding, healthy food and medicine, and ecological tea gardens.

Cultivating a smart ecosystem

In recent years, relying on the first-mover advantage of big data development, Guiyang has continued to carry out smart water construction.

In 2018, Guiyang launched the development of the river and lake big data management information system. The system can monitor the water quality data and video information of each river in real time, analyze abnormal water quality and automatically alert staff members, and remind the staff members to verify and ensure water quality exceeds standards.

Guiyang's river and lake big data management information system has realized electronic river patrol, real-time data, and quick assignment.
