An ecological civilization lecture hosted by the Guiyang bureau of ecology and the environment was held at the Guiyang Ecological Science Museum on July 30. More than 50 environmental protection enthusiasts were on site and more than 56,000 people listened to the lecture online.
Yuan Meng, a member of the expert database of environmental impact assessment in Guizhou province, explained in his lecture the role of benthic animals in aquatic ecosystems, position in the food chain, how to protect benthic animals and other more using rich visual displays.
After the indoor theory lecture, under the leadership of Yuan, environmental protection enthusiasts walked to the Huaxi Shili River Beach Wetland Park together to sample and observe benthic animals.
"Through in-depth observation, I now realize that benthic animals living on the bottom can be used as 'indicators' of the water ecosystem, and we should protect them," an environmental protection volunteer said.
