Guiyang metro cartoon characters plug environmental science

Three new bright and breezy cartoon images – a green character representing mountain tops, a blue figure representing a water bubble and a white character representing clouds – recently appeared in the carriages of the Guiyang Metro Line 1 special eco-friendly train.

The special train, whose interior has been especially designed to raise the public's awareness about environmental science, was launched by the Guiyang bureau of ecology and environment.

Through the hand-painted images, the train is exposing commuters to the concepts of green and low-carbon environmental protection, with information provided about a phone hotline for reporting on ecological and environmental protection and to give details on related laws and regulations on ecological and environmental protection.

Liang Chao, an employee of the Publicity and Education Center of the Guiyang bureau of ecology and environment, said the cartoon images respectively represented the status of forest protection, the water environment quality and the ambient air quality of Guiyang.

The words that go with the images advocate for people to "embrace an ecological Guiyang," among other things.
