An activity themed around exploring "green" mysteries in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, was held at the Hongfenghu sub-site of the Field Science Observation and Research Station of the Ministry of Education of the Ministry of Karst Environment and Ecosystems of Guizhou.
That same day, more than 10 volunteers for ecological civilization – including researchers from the Guiyang Ecological Science Museum, Guiyang Daily Media Group, and the Hongfenghu sub-site of the Guizhou University Field Science Observation and Research Station – visited Hongfeng Lake.
According to experts, the observation station focuses on research into karst environmental ecosystems and conducts long-term, systematic and fixed-point scientific observation and research in response to important national needs and scientific issues – such as sustainable local economic development – and obtains first-hand original and basic data.
The purpose is to explore the structure, function, material cycle and energy flow of special environmental ecosystems, as well as ineffective environmental governance and ecological restoration efforts amid global change.
As an important centralized drinking water source in Guiyang, Hongfeng Lake has been essential for protecting water safety and biodiversity in recent years.
