The city of Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – is widely viewed as having successfully stuck to its goal of having "ecological priority and green development" and has moved to convert ecological resources into economic resources in recent years, enabling citizens to enjoy the benefits.

The protection of the parks in Guanshanhu district, the tea gardens in Jiuan township in Huaxi district and the tourist lakes in Qingzhen city are said to have been a singular achievement of Guiyang's eco-friendly development.

This year, going green is understood to have ushered in new opportunities. At the start of 2022, the State Council, China's Cabinet, supported Guizhou province's push for new achievements in its development of an ecological civilization. This, in turn, has brought new assistance to Guiyang's ecological and environmental transformation.

Moving forwards, plans are for the Guiyang bureau of ecology and environment to combine the actual situation on the ground with innovative measures to speed things up. It is expected that more achievements are on the way that will enable the city's residents to live in a better environment.
