Guiyang achieves excellent air quality in early 2022

The Guiyang municipal bureau of ecology and environment made a series of achievements in ensuring ambient air quality in the past months.

The excellent and good rate of ambient air quality of Guiyang reached a full 100 percent in January with the comprehensive index of ambient air quality dropping sharply by 41.3 percent compared to last year in the same period.

The Ministry of Ecology and Environment announced the national list for the ambient air quality of January on Feb 15. Among the 168 key cities in China, Guiyang ranked fourth.

These achievements were due to a number of measures taken by the bureau of ecology and environment since the end of last year.

According to the pollution prevention and control plan formulated, the bureau insisted on monthly assessments of all districts, county-level cities, counties, and development zones to ensure an orderly progress of various rectifications.

The bureau continued to monitor the ambient air quality every day and timely warned of possible polluted areas and major pollutants.

In addition, the bureau invited well-known hosts and actors to create promotional videos and slogans to reduce the number of fireworks and firecrackers. These videos and slogans were set up as publicity in shopping malls, outdoors, and taxi LED screens.

These measures guided the general public to care more for the environment which achieved a remarkable result. The city's ambient air quality achieved excellent results during the 7 days of the Spring Festival holiday.
