Yunyan works to reduce plastic pollution

Since the beginning of this year, relevant departments of Yunyan district, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, have jointly worked to reduce plastic pollution.

The district issued a work plan for further reducing plastic pollution, which proposed that by 2022, the consumption of disposable plastic products in Yunyan be significantly reduced, alternative products be promoted, and the proportion of plastic waste recycling and energy utilization be greatly increased.

By 2025, the management system for the production, circulation, consumption, recycling and disposal of plastic products in the district should be established, with a reduction in plastic landfills and plastic pollution.

On Oct 28-31, a promotional activity for green living and reducing plastic pollution was held at 10 major shopping malls and farmer's markets in Yunyan, promoting plastic pollution reduction in the form of short videos and street interviews.

The Yunyan district agriculture and rural affairs bureau also established a waste agricultural film recycling system, completely prohibiting the production and sale of disposable foamed plastic tableware and disposable plastic cotton swabs.

Moving forward, Yunyan will promote recyclable, easily recyclable, and degradable alternative products to increase the supply of green products.

Meanwhile, the district will strengthen the recycling and removal of plastic waste, promote better utilization of resources and energy, and continue working to reduce plastic waste.
