In a boost to its ambitions to extend the integrated development of the environment and its economy, the Huaxi district – located in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – was recently notified it made the latest provincial list to get the status of environment practice bases.
At an experts review meeting on Aug 9, Wang Xiaobing, deputy head of Huaxi, reported to the panel on the main methods, typical cases and plans for the district on the environmental front.
The panel of experts reportedly gave strong positive feedback on Huaxi's long-term commitment to promoting the synergistic development of the environment and economy – and encouraged more Huaxi-style development paths.
It is widely viewed that Huaxi has remained committed to green development for many years and as a result has made significant achievements.
A series of projects targeting the control of water, air, pollution and the region's overall greening has been implemented.
In addition, last year saw the excellent rate readings for air quality reach 99.1 percent in Huaxi. The quality of centralized drinking water sources and surface water reportedly fully reached the national standard, while the forest coverage rate was 54.95 percent, with 200,000 square meters of urban green space being built.
To build on its success, plans are for Huaxi to continue to push for high-quality and green development.
