Xiuwen upgrades sewage treatment, spurs rural revitalization

Xiuwen county – administered by Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – has been on the march to boost sewage treat in the region, which in turn is adding momentum to rural revitalization taking place there.

The Xiuwen branch of the Guiyang Bureau of Ecology and Environment recently installed collection and treatment facilities at various locations, which have already reportedly yielded results.

Suoqiao village in Gubao town selected demonstration households to construct sewage treatment facilities.

To ensure they were constructed in compliance with requirements, representatives from the Xiuwen branch and Xiuwen County Industrial Investment Group visited the village on July 28 to guide the work – explaining to farmers the purpose of constructing sewage treatment facilities.

In addition, two experts have been deployed to work in the village of Damu administered by Liutun town since the end of June. The idea is to organize domestic sewage collection and treatment work in the village and help boost the development there of red tourism: tourism themed on revolutionary history and spirit.

Following investigations, they helped the provincial department of ecology and environment to improve the sewage treatment plant in Damu village, while four pilot decentralized household sewage treatment facilities are now under construction.
