Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone (GETDZ), is reportedly making every effort to improve the water quality of the Sanjiangkou section of the Mati River.

Using cameras connected to an environmental protection big data platform, staff members from GETDZ's ecological promotion bureau can now monitor the real-time situation of the waterway.

"The probes installed in the river take samples once an hour and then conduct detection and analysis, allowing us to know about changes in the water quality in real time," said a bureau spokesman.

In the wake of the environmental protection big data platform being brought online, the water quality of the Mati River has reportedly increased substantively over a protracted period of time.

In addition to monitoring the water quality, the platform can also monitor air quality.

On April 23, Guiyang was listed as one of the top 10 cities at the China good life cities ceremony for 2020-2021.

Among 21 satisfaction indicators, Guiyang citizens were reportedly highly satisfied with the city's image, water and air quality, convenience of life and public cultural services.
