In order to accelerate its steps towards achieving peak carbon emissions and carbon neutrality, Guiyang – capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province – has launched a pilot program for building low-carbon communities in its Huaxi district.
Four communities were identified – Jiulong Garden, Lanxin Guifu community, Kangcheng community and Raorao village in Gaopo township – to be engaged in carbon inventory and low-carbon education.
To establish the necessary infrastructure, dozens of water economizers, garbage sorting bins, solar-powered streetlights, greenbelt handrails and lawn bricks were ordered.
In addition, a series of planning meetings took place between responsible municipal departments.
