The environmental law enforcement department of Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – recently introduced a range of measures, designed to boost the supervision of local medical waste and sewage disposal.
Under the measures, the responsible municipal departments must improve on-the-spot inspections of sewage, as well as disinfections of medical waste and sewage – especially the collection, storage, transfer and disposal of infectious waste.
The measures demand that some irregularities at hospitals be rectified promptly, to eliminate potential environmental risks.
The administration also stressed that there be adequate publicity of COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control measures – for the public to be fully informed – as well as the distribution of information on the green and smooth disposal of medical waste and sewage.
