A number of biodiversity conservation projects in the Guanshanhu district of Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, passed exacting reviews conducted by experts on Jan 26.

Three authorities in the field, invited by the Guanshanhu branch of the Guiyang's ecology and environment bureau, spoke highly of the district's current efforts being made in biodiversity conservation.

A survey, based on a variety of methods, has defined 251 types of vertebrates and 1,202 types of vascular plants located in the region, of which one of Guizhou's aquatic animals and two types of endemic plants were found in Guanshanhu.

The statistics form a sound foundation for the construction of local databases for species, genes and dynamic monitoring. In addition, the survey accurately depicts Guiyang's current situation in biodiversity conservation.

Moving forwards, Guanshanhu will refine the findings and build biodiversity databases in a bid to conserve natural resources and protect the ecological environment.
