The annual working conference of the Guiyang's ecology and environment bureau in Guiyang – capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province – convened on Jan 26, to summarize the achievements that were made in 2020 and to draft and targets for 2021.
During the past year, the bureau continued to improve Guiyang's environment and boost the community's sense of achievement, happiness and security. Several battles against environmental pollution reportedly made great progress.
Last year, Guizhou reported 362 days with excellent and good air quality that met official standards, with no moderate or worse polluted weather.
The excellence rate for air quality reached 98.9 percent, which ranked 10th among 168 key cities across China, as well as 4th among national capital cities.
In addition, 16 drinking water resource sections under national and provincial supervision, 16 centralized drinking water sources above the country level and 44 rural drinking water sources all met relevant standards.
Moreover, the quality of soil remained stable and no serious environmental emergencies occurred.
During the conference, the bureau indicated that it will emphasize the continuous improvement of the environment and act to further prevent pollution in 2021.
The bureau will stick to current parameters and refine relevant plans to handle both higher-quality environmental and economic development.
