The Guiyang Institute of Ecological and Environmental Sciences, or GIEES – based in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – passed a key evaluation to become a qualified inspection agency on Dec 18, meaning it can now provide environment monitoring data and evaluation results with legal effect.
During the past four months, GIEES established work teams, installed equipment and constructed hardware and software facilities for its laboratories.
After becoming a qualified inspection agency, GIEES will train staff in heavy metal inspections and research and contribute to Guiyang's R&D of technologies – for pollution prevention and control, the commercialization of achievements and the popularization of applications.
