Guizhou boosts ecological, environmental protection

The department of ecology and environment in Southwest China's Guizhou held a meeting on Nov 10 – in Guiyang, capital city of the province – in a bid align the province's policies and actions with the proposals of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the CPC.

The national session is a crucial and historical reference point for the overall construction of a well-being society as well as a modern socialist country.

Guizhou has kept its ecological baseline and achieved an overall excellent quality in the treatment of its ecology and environment since the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20).

Guizhou's efforts to prevent and control pollution have strengthened demonstrably in a clear improvement of its local ecology and environment.

Among its nine major cities, the rate of days with excellent air quality hit 99.5 percent this year, up 1.5 percent compared with the same period in the previous year.

The excellence rate for water quality among the provincial monitoring sectors of main rivers came in at 98.2 percent during the same period. At the same time, the quality of drinking water sources remained perfect.

Guizhou has fashioned a vision of its future, high-quality development -- in which pollution control, ecological and environmental protection and rejuvenation, with an efficient ecological treatment system will be stressed.

Guizhou will also train and cultivate environmental protection professionals, so that they can provide powerful support for the economy and society.
