Over the last five years, Huaxi district of Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has paid close attention to its green development and has achieved great success.

The district has implemented key tasks for air pollution prevention and control in seven specific areas: structural adjustments, coal burning, dust prevention, incineration bans, tail gas blocking, oil fume controls and industry management.

At present, the average concentration of six pollutants, including fine particulate matter PM2.5, has reached the national second-class standard and the air environment quality rate has reached 98 percent.

The district has engaged in the comprehensive treatment of the Huaxi section of Nanming River and the transformation of the sewage collection system.

As of October this year, the water quality compliance rate of urban drinking water sources had reached 100 percent and the environmental quality compliance rate of surface water had done the same.

A municipal solid waste comprehensive treatment project was completed and went into operation, while comprehensive treatment of the Langfengguan waste landfill site was launched.

As a result, the disposal and utilization rate of industrial solid waste and the safe disposal rate of hazardous waste in the district have both reached 100 percent.

In addition, the district is supporting green development projects in the big data and high-tech industries, among others. It is also promoting the overall development of green products, factories and supply chains.
