The report showcased the air quality status of China's top 20 cities in September and during the first nine months of the year. Guiyang was second to Haikou in Hainan province and Yaan in Sichuan province.

In September, the average ratio of good air quality days was 91.7 percent among 337 cities at and above the prefecture-level – a year-on-year increase of 11.2 percentage points.
