Qingzhen joins push to create ecological civilization

Qingzhen city – the county-level city administered by Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – on June 24 launched its drive to become part of the country's program to create a truly ecological civilization, that among other things unwaveringly pursues the path of sustainable development and protects the environment.

Some prominent thinkers and environmentalists say China has been committed to a sustainable development path and has taken the lead in global ecological civilization efforts. 

The city plans to accomplish the construction of national ecological civilization demonstration area within the year of 2021 and in order to do so, it has stepped up joint efforts in planning, inspection and assessment.

A lead group has been established, accompanied by the action plan for transforming Qingzhen into a national ecological civilization demonstration city (2020-2022).

Qingzhen authorities have also dispatched inspectors to go throughout the metropolis to ensure its implementation.

Moreover, any harmful actions towards the environment will meet heavy punishment, officials said.
