Guiyang's bureau of ecology and environment in Southwest China's Guizhou province, is cooperating with the public security, transportation and traffic administration departments in order to work towards greater achievements in the prevention and control of hazardous waste in Guiyang, an official report said on May 9.

According to the report, the meetings, presided over by Li Yi, deputy director of Guiyang's bureau of ecology and environment, have resulted in a series of measures being established.

First and foremost, prevention and control has been intensified among relevant departments at county and municipality level. The department of ecology and environment is using advanced technology to search for hazardous waste incidents; the department of transportation is required to offer information about the illegal transfer of solid waste; and the public security department is asked to speed up solving criminal cases.

The report emphasizes cracking down on illegal and criminal activities in the field of hazardous waste. All organizations, groups and individuals must strictly abide by relevant laws, regulations and rules.

In addition to the above, Guiyang also upholds the philosophy of "harsh restrictions on sources, unblinking watch for procedures, severe punishments for violations". In this way, the entire process of supervision effectively minimizes environmental risk.

During the conference, relevant departments all positively responded to the powerful mix of solutions mentioned above in the hope of better supervision and regulation throughout the entire process.
