Baiyun enhances environment protection around schools

As students in their final year of senior and junior high schools returned to schools on March 16, Baiyuan district in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province carried out cleaning and disinfection of school areas prior to their reopening.

Since March 9, the Baiyun city management and law enforcement bureau has put 186 dustbins for used masks disposal in 26 schools, as well as designed the schools' work teams to identify their sanitation and disinfection responsibilities.

The bureau has also required city sanitation departments to guarantee daily garbage transportation and disinfection of dustbins near the schools. Some 95 environmental sanitation workers and seven garbage collection vehicles clean and sterilize the main roads and garbage bins around the 26 schools every day.

Environmental sanitation workers have also cleaned the neglected corners, green belts, and gravel areas on both sides of the roads to maintain the overall sanitation of the district.

From March 31, the bureau has inspected the restaurants near schools to make sure that no stalls are on the streets, all the kitchen waste is collected in special garbage bins, and take out service is provided to avoid people dining in restaurants.
